Let customers browse

How to create a WhatsApp Business catalogue

A catalogue is a set of product or service cards attached to your business profile. A customer can open it, browse everything you offer with photos and prices, and send a specific item straight into a chat — all before you have typed a word.

This guide covers building it well, not just building it.

Where to find it

Open WhatsApp Business, go to Settings, Business tools, then Catalog. From there you can add items one at a time.

What to include for each item

  • One clear photo, taken in good light, showing the item or finished work on its own
  • A name a customer would search for, not an internal code
  • The price — leave it off only if it genuinely varies job by job
  • A short description: size, material, what is included, turnaround time
  • A link, if relevant, to the matching page on your website

Photos are what sell it

A catalogue is judged on its photos before anything else. Photograph in daylight near a window, keep the background plain, and show the item the way a customer would actually receive it — plated food, a finished haircut, a completed repair, rather than raw ingredients or tools.

Organise with sections

If you sell more than about ten items, group them into sections such as Starters, Mains and Drinks, or Cuts, Colour and Treatments. A long unsorted list is as unhelpful as no catalogue at all.

Keep it current

Remove items that are out of stock and update prices as soon as they change. An old price causes an awkward conversation and costs trust — it is worth five minutes a week to keep the catalogue accurate.

Send items straight into a chat

When someone asks about a specific product, open the catalogue and send that single item card rather than describing it in text. It carries the photo, name and price in one message and looks far more professional.

A catalogue is not a website

The catalogue is excellent for browsing once someone is already chatting to you, but it cannot be found by someone searching Google, and it has no room for reviews, a full story about your business, or a map. A simple website does that job and hands the customer to WhatsApp once they are ready to order.

Next step

Once your catalogue is built, add each item to it properly rather than in one rushed sitting.
