Why is my business not showing on Google Maps?

It is not verified yet

Unverified listings stay hidden. Open your Google Business Profile and check for a verification prompt, then complete it — usually by recording a video of your premises.

It has been suspended

Suspensions usually follow keyword-stuffed business names, an address that does not match reality, a virtual office, or many edits in a short time. Put the details back to exactly what appears on your signage and paperwork, then appeal through the profile.

There are duplicate listings

Two listings for one business compete with each other and neither does well. Keep the one with the reviews, and report the other as a duplicate.

The category or service area is wrong

If your main category does not match what people search for, you will not appear for those searches. Likewise, a service-area business that lists only one suburb will not show in the others. Fix the main category first, then widen the service area to areas you genuinely cover.

You are searching from the wrong place

Map results depend heavily on where the searcher is standing. Standing in your own shop, you will nearly always see yourself. Ask someone in another suburb to search the same words before concluding you are invisible.

You are there, but ranked below others

• Get more genuine reviews, and reply to all of them
• Add photos every month
• Complete every field, especially services and hours
• Add a website with your trade and town clearly written on it
• Keep your name, address and phone number identical everywhere online
