How to add your business to Google Maps from your phone

You do not need a computer. The Google Maps app on your phone can add your business, place the pin and start verification, which is useful if the laptop is not nearby.

Before you add anything, search for yourself

Type your business name and your street into Maps. If a listing already exists, open it and tap Claim this business. Adding a second listing for the same place splits your reviews and can get both suspended.

Adding the business in the Maps app

  • Open Google Maps and sign in with your business Google account
  • Tap your profile picture, then Add your business
  • Enter the name and choose the category that matches your main work
  • Choose whether customers visit you or you travel to them
  • Drop the pin, then drag it precisely onto your entrance
  • Add the phone number and website link

Getting the pin right

A pin in the middle of a block sends customers to the wrong gate and creates bad first impressions. Stand at your door, use the blue dot as a guide, and drag the pin onto it. If you are inside a complex or an arcade, mention the shop number and a landmark in your address line.

Finish on a bigger screen if you can

Photos, services, opening hours and the description are quicker to complete on a computer. The listing is the same either way — do the easy part on the phone now and finish the detail later the same week.

What happens next

Google will ask you to verify the business before it appears publicly. Until then only you can see it. Do not add the same business again while waiting — that is the most common way people end up with duplicates.

Next step

Pin placed. Now give customers somewhere to land.
