How to add photos to your Google Business Profile
Photos are usually the first thing a customer looks at and the fastest way to look more professional than the business next to you. You do not need a camera — a clean phone lens and daylight are enough.
Start building for freeHow to upload
- Open your profile in Google Maps or the Business Profile app
- Tap Add photo, then choose the type: logo, cover, interior, exterior, team or product
- Upload a few at a time rather than fifty at once
- Check them the next day — Google occasionally removes photos it cannot categorise
The photos worth taking
- Outside your premises, so customers recognise the place when they arrive
- Inside, showing it clean and ready for a customer
- Your team at work, faces visible
- Finished work: before and after pairs are powerful for trades and salons
- Products with prices written in the description, not on the photo
- Your logo, square and sharp
Shooting them well on a phone
- Clean the lens first — it makes more difference than any setting
- Shoot in daylight or near a window, never against a bright doorway
- Hold the phone level and take landscape shots
- Tidy the frame: no bins, no clutter, no unrelated people
- Take five of each shot and keep the best one
How often to add more
Aim for a few new photos every month. Fresh photos show the business is running, give returning customers a reason to look again, and give you material for posts and for your website.
Use the same photos on your website
The photos you take for Google are exactly what your website needs. Real photos of your own work always beat stock images, because customers are trying to judge whether you are genuine. Upload the same set when you build your site and the two will look like one business.
